Paris in pictures

Opera House in Paris

Palais Garnier – Opéra national de Paris

Striking the right balance between the on-line virtual world and the real world is really important to me. This is why I have not been posting regularly while I have been in the UK. Apart from anything else I simply couldn’t find the time to fit it all in!

Since Sunday 14 July marks Bastille Day, I thought I would share some photos of one of my favourite cities in the world. Paris.

Last year I made Iles Flottantes (Floating islands) for Bastille Day. It’s a simple and very traditional French dessert and is super refreshing for this time of year. You could always make my chocolat fondant with balsamic blueberries if you wanted more indulgence, or try my nut crusted, twice baked cheese and chive soufflé if you are looking for for something savoury.

Just before I go, I’d like to say thank you to for listing me as as one of their favourite blogs.

I’ll be making the most of this British Summertime and will return to blogging recipes in a couple of weeks time.

Happy Bastille Day to my French family and friends!

I love Paris and hope to visit again next year. I remember some years ago sitting on the steps featured in your photograph of the Palais du Louvre with my husband and children. Have a lovely summer.

It’s hard not to love Paris …isn’t it? Have a great Summer! So pleased that the sun has finally made an appearance!

Lovely post, I liked looking through your pictures as it reminded me of when I was there a few years ago.

Ah … Paris!!! Only last Saturday I thought of going to Paris as a last minute weekend trip, but sadly I didn’t do it. Lovely pictures and … thank you for some insprirations from your recipes …

Oh Chris, what a missed opportunity! Best time to go is in August where most folks take 2-3 weeks leave and head south for the sunshine!

Ah, now you are just making us jealous! Such lovely images. I have seen the locks in person but your photo makes them look especially romantic. I trust you ate exceedingly well. Too hot to eat right now here in the UK. It’s watermelon and feta salads, and cold drinks in my house! Even the west coast is sweltering

Hi Kellie,
These photos are from a previous Spring visit in 2012. I’m currently in the UK and experiencing the scorching heatwave. Quite a contrast to what I was experiencing mid June in London! I was up in Glasgow at the start of July and the weather was horrendous so glad to see the west coast is getting a bit of sunshine :-)

I love to cook up something very French for Bastille Day, but it slipped by in a blur of being busy this year. Maybe I can bake some baguettes before the end of July to make up for it! Thanks for sharing these lovely photos for a quick, virtual trip to Paris!

15 Jacqueline July 25, 2013 at 12:33 pm

There is always room for baguettes Lisa :-)
